Obituary | Jun 9, 2013 | OBITUARY: Fairlee, VT – Dicksie A. Stickney, 92, died Friday June 7th at Genesis Eldercare in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Lebanon, NH a daughter of Perley L. and Merle A. (Mattoon) Woodward. Dicksie grew up in Norwich, graduated from Hanover High School in 1939, and married Loyal Laber in 1940. After his death she was remarried to Kenneth Stickney in 1970. They lived on the Stickney Farm in Pompanoosuc until moving to North Hartland in 1975 and to Tall Timbers in Quechee in 1985. From Quechee they moved to Greystone Village in White River Jct in 1996, most recently Dicksie has lived at the Valley View Home in Fairlee, VT. Dicksie worked in the housekeeping department at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover in her younger years and then cleaned private homes for several years. She also cleaned offices in the area with her husband, Ken, from 1976 until retiring in 1992. Dicksie enjoyed spending time at the Bugbee Senior Center in White River Jct. and loved listening to talking books. She was predeceased by her husbands Loyal Laber in 1969 and Kenneth Stickney in 2004; two sons David Laber and Wayne Laber as well as two sisters Elizabeth Preston and Marjorie Armstrong. She is survived by a son George E. Laber and his wife Eileen of Lebanon, NH, grandchildren Jeff Flanders and his wife Wendy and Lisa Melanson and her husband Paul, as well as several great-grandchildren; a brother Perley C. Woodward of Windsor; a sister Christine Jenkins of Lebanon and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held in the West Lebanon Cemetery Wednesday morning, June 12th, at 10AM with The Rev. Stephen R. Silver officiating.
