Obituary | Jul 25, 2014 | OBITUARY: Francis A. "Jake" Jacques a lifelong area resident passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at home with his family at his side. Born in St. Albans on March 8, 1935, he was the son of the late Albert F. and Bernadette (Santor) Jacques. Jake was 79 years old. On June 29, 1953, in Sheldon Springs, he married the former Martha Jane Fairbanks, who survives him. Francis was a 1952 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and for many years was self-employed in maintaining several properties in the area. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and hunting. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jane, of St. Albans; their children, Douglas Jacques and his companion, Lynn Dupuis, of St. Albans, Deborah Martell and her husband, Greg, of Jeffersonville, Diane Walsh and her husband, Joseph, of New Fairfield, Connecticut, Donna Corrigan and her husband, David, of St. Albans and Darlene Durett , of Colchester. He also leaves his grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Mark Martell, Christopher and Michelle Walsh and Julie Walsh Pecor, Jessica, Jason and Joshua Corrigan, Katie, Tyler, Emily and Casey Jacques, Elise and Daniel Durett and 13 great-grandchildren. Jake is also survived by his siblings, Bernard and his wife, Rosalie, of St. Albans, Henry Jacques of Burlington, Gloria Norcross and her husband, Ken, of Fairfax, and Paul and his wife, Sue, of Alburgh and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Smith on December 4, 2008; brother, Victor Jacques and sister, Madeline Cantell. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, July 27, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 28th at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Angels Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
