ObituaryNov 14, 2024  OBITUARY: Saint Albans – Bernard Armand Jacques, a lifelong area resident passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at home with his family at his side.

Born in St. Albans on May 7, 1934, he was the son of the late Albert and Bernadette (Santor) Jacques. Bernard was 90 years old.

On October 27, 1956, at Holy Angels Church Bernard married Rosalie Lahue, who survives him.

Bernard was a 1952 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and went on to serve his country during the Korean War in the United States Army receiving his honorable discharge with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He then began a 34-year career with the Vermont Air National Guard as Warehouse Supervisor.

He was a longtime member of Green Mountain Post # 1, American Legion and Robert E. Glidden Post # 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus Council #297.

Bernard was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting and trips with the RV, enjoyed working in his wood shop and cruising with Rosalie.

In addition to his wife of 68 years, Rosalie, he leaves their three daughters, Rose and Gary Boldman of Jericho and their daughter, Jacqueline Robinson (Nate) of Underhill; Mary Jacques and her husband Chris Pazandak, DDS of Stowe, and Chris’ three daughters, Catie Winters (Bob) of Brookfield, Suzanne Pazandak and Anthony Figuera of Ashville, NC and Allison Peters (Kenny) of Greensboro, NC and Susan Jacques Kaminski and her daughter Katelyn Wasserman (David) of Youngstown, OH as well as great grandchildren, Mira Grace Robinson, Aiden and Saoirse Winters, Nate, Eleanor and Annaliese Peters, Amias Figuera and Emmett and Beckett and soon to be born, Charlotte Rose Wasserman.

Bernard is also survived by his brother, Paul “Pete” Jacques (Sue) of Alburgh and sister, Gloria Norcross of Fairfax, sister-in-law, Jane Jacques of St. Albans and several nieces and nephews.

Bernard is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Bernadette, his sister, Madeline “Che Che” Cantell and brothers, Victor, Henry and Francis.

His family would like to thank the Bayada Hospice for the comfort, care and compassion given to Bernard and his family during the past few weeks. A special thank you to his niece, Donna Jacques Corrigan for care and support for his family.

A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 12 noon at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Calvary Street with the Reverend Father Maurice J. Roy officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
