Obituary | Jan 17, 2000 | OBITUARY: John D. McLaren Sr., 74, died Sunday at his home. He was born March 3, 1925, in Bakersfield, son of James and Mary Ellen (Yato) McLaren. He was a self-employed truck driver. Mr. McLaren was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include seven sons, John McLaren Jr. of Pittsford, James McLaren and Jay McLaren, both of Rutland, Harland McLaren and Jerry McLaren, both of Stuart, Fla., Terry McLaren of Richmond and Paul McLaren of West Rutland; five daughters, Judy Hawkins of Jupiter, Fla., Patricia Taylor and Mary Bell, both of Rutland, Joyce Humphrey of Shrewsbury and Pauline Friot of Richmond; 40 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara R. (Garrow) McLaren, in 1982, and by several brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will take place at a later date in Egypt Cemetery in Fairfield. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home.
