Obituary | Feb 5, 2007 | OBITUARY: Mr. Rountree was a native of Gates County, North Carolina. He lived 52 years in Virginia Beach and recently moved to Middleburg. He was retired as branch head of the Manufacturing Division, Naval Air Rework Facility, Norfolk. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a radio communications supervisor aboard the USS Curtiss during the Hydrogen Bomb test at Bikini Atoll in 1954. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Virginia Beach. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Aliene Burton Rountree; a daughter, Teresa Rountree Williams and husband Steve of Jacksonville, Fla; two sons, Ronald D. Rountree and wife Rehia of Middleburg and Alan D. Rountree and wife Pam of Orange Park, Fla; a sister, Evelyn R. Lassiter, of Sunbury, N.C; two brothers, Robert H. Rountree of Burlington, N.C., and Ralph M. Rountree, of Williamsburg; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Thurman B. Rountree Sr; his mother, Ica R. Rountree; and a brother, Thurman B. Rountree Jr. of San Diego, Calif. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville. Family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Fla.
