Obituary | Dec 21, 1903 | OBITUARY: WILLIAM JOHNSON came to Milton, FL as an educator in 1866 from Canada after brief stops in Mansfield, LA and Bellville, AL. There were few better known business men in West Florida. In 1880 Mr. Johnson, after conducting a successful business in Milton, moved to Pensacola. His business prospered from the beginning. Johnson & Davis Drygoods soon became Johnson & Forbes. The successor remains William Johnson & Son with the addition of William Rice Johnson as a junior member. Mr. Johnson was also a director of the American National Bank in Pensacola. Deceased leaves his son, William Rice, Mkss Margaret Johnson, Mrs. Ben D. Beers, all of Pensacola and Mrs. A.C. Bruce of Worcestor, Mass and Mrs. Lemuel W. Morse of Bayonne, NJ. It was Mr. Johnson’s wish to be buried in East Hatley with his father and sister.
