Obituary | Aug 28, 1892 | OBITUARY: Richard Gale Ashby was fifteen when Nathaniel joined the Mormons and went to Nauvoo (Illinois) in 1843. When Richard Gale Ashby was twenty-three he left Salem by ship and landed in Mexico. Here he married a well-to-do Spanishlady. He put up a paper mill and operated it for twenty years. He acquired land and built up a great coffee plantation. He raise two sons. Each of the sons raised nine children. Many of these children and now married and raising families. There are in all forty-six descendants dead and alive from Richard Gale Ashby.
