ObituaryApr 1, 1914  OBITUARY: Mrs. Emma Cantle (Cantell) who made her home with her niece, Mrs. James Logan on Elm street, died Tuesday night, March 24th, of tuberculosis. She had been ill about a year and
confined to the house for the past six months, taking her bed only the day before her death.
Emma the daughter of Addison and Mercy Wheelock was born in East Fairfield. August 13, 1858, where her early life was spent.

In 1884 at Sheldon, she was married to Wm. H. Cantle (Cantell) of that place, where they lived for some time. Later she came to St. Johnsbury, where the remainder of her life was spent.
Mrs. Cantle was a very ambitious woman and anxious to do her duty to the last. She was very much attached to her niece, Lydia Wheelock (Mrs. James Logan) with whom she made her home and who knew her as a mother. She was a member of the Methodist church of this place.

Mrs. Cantle Is survived by one son in Minneapolis, a sister.Mrs. Ida Jacques of Jeffersonvllle, a brother, John Wheelock of Cambridge, Mass., and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at her home Saturday morning at 10 a. m., Rev. Peter Black officiating, the remains were placed In the tomb at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Those from out of town called here to attend the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jacques of Jeffersonville and son, Oscar Jacques of Hardwlck, a niece, Mrs. Ralph Webb of South Lunenburg, Almon Wheelock of Swanton, a brother, John Wheelock and two sons, Howard and Frank of Cambridge, Mass.
