ObituaryJan 10, 2025  OBITUARY: Keith Hamilton Beadle, 76, of Derby Line, Vermont passed away on January 7, 2025 at his home in Derby Line. He was born on April 22, 1948 in Newport, VT to the late Roger and Alice (Whitney) Beadle.

On August 21, 1971 he married Diane Geoffroy who survives him.

He graduated from Derby Academy in 1966 and in 1970 he graduated from the University of Vermont with a BA in mathematics.

He began substitute teaching in the area. In 1971 he received a permanent teaching position at the Woodstock Union High School in Woodstock, VT.

In 1972 he started working as a part time inspector for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service in Richford, VT a position he continued to hold until 1975. He also continued teaching at Woodstock Union High School until the end of the school year 1974-75. He then was selected for a permanent I&NS inspector position in Derby Line, VT. He would examine people wishing to enter the United States from Canada. He was selected to the position of Free Trade Examiner in 1989 with duties to facilitate the entry of people applying under the purview of NAFTA. He retired in 2006.

Keith was an accomplished piano player, but perhaps an even more accomplished baseball card collector. Among his hobbies, he enjoyed poetry and reading, fishing, gardening, and seemingly impossible crossword puzzles. He also loved watching and feeding his backyard birds, but not the backyard squirrels. Keith enjoyed telling jokes even if it took anyone he shared them with a little extra time to get the punchline. He had a strong passion for cookies but most importantly, he had a strong passion for his family. He was a caregiver who went above and beyond for his community, family and friends, always leaving himself second.

He is survived by his wife Diane Beadle of Derby Line, VT, his children: Gregory Beadle and his wife Jaime of Gilford, NH, and Jessica Dutter and her husband Michael of Chester, VA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Faith, Zachary, Chloe, Andrew, Spencer, and Nicholas Dutter, and Hutch Hamilton Beadle. He is survived by his sister Janice Beadle of Beebe Plain, VT, and his dear cat Ebony. He is also survived by his in-laws: Donald Geoffroy and his wife Carmen of AZ, Rachel Sterns of Thornton, NH, Susan Daudelin of Newport, VT, and Norman Geoffroy and his wife Donna of Barton, VT, several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister Carol Beadle, and by his in-laws: Michael Geoffroy, Yvon Daudelin, Larry Sterns and Roger Geoffroy and his wife Rachel.
