A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 201 W. Third Ave. Visitation will follow the service at the church. A memorial service will also be held in the summer for his New England relatives and friends. He was born Aug. 8, 1954, in Woodsville, N.H., to Douglas and Priscilla McKown. He graduated from Lisbon High School in New Hampshire in 1973. He then studied photography at Boston University. David loved California, where he lived for more than 20 years. But in 1997, he moved to Denver to live and work with Deb Hastings Watson; they have been friends since childhood. David became the principal designer and programmer for Deb's marketing consulting and web development company. Together, they moved to Pittsfield, Mass., then to Wells, Maine, and finally to Lexington. When Deb married Don Watson in 2010, the three became a unique and loving family, ultimately all working together. David was preceded in death by his parents and brother Richard Robinson. Surviving are his brother, James Robinson of Chicago, Ill; aunts Toosie "Nathalie" McKown Murray of Enfield, Conn., and Jocelyn McKown Jamieson of Salisbury, N.H; numerous cousins, including Cindi Jamieson Murphy of Northfield, N.H., Dianna Jamieson of Warner, N.H., and Lynn Provencher of Enfield, Conn; and Deb and Don Watson and many in the Hastings and Watson families who loved him like family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Services of Davidson County, 25 W. Sixth Ave., Lexington, NC 27292.
