ObituaryAug 9, 2003  OBITUARY: Services for Stacia Eileen Hickey, 87, Carolina Beach, N.C., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas O'Toole officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
Born April 20, 1916, in Mosinee, Wis., to W.A. and Hazel Marie Clark Priest, she died Aug. 7, 2003, at a Wilmington, N.C., hospital. She married Leo James Hickey on Sept. 1, 1934, in Waukegan, Ill. He preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Kathleen James, and two sisters, Eva Clawson and Fern Swanson.

Mrs. Hickey was a former Ardmore resident who had lived in Carolina Beach since 1997. While in Ardmore, she was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

She spent many years living in Sheboygan, Wis., and LaCrosse, Wis. She spent most of her life as a homemaker. After attending millenary school, she had managed Wendy's Hat Shop, where she personally designed many heats and wedding veils for the local ladies of Sheboygan.

She was also involved in various volunteer organizations, such as Y Wives and Knights of Columbus Wives. Mrs. Hickey had served as a Eucharistic minister. She had also been a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and a teacher's aid. Mrs. Hickey was a member of Immaculate Conception parish in Wilmington.

Survivors include sons, Bernard L. Hickey, and his wife, Judy, Sheboygan, and Robert W. Hickey and Carol Robertson, Topeka, Kan; two daughters, Patricia Walker, and her husband, Sidney, Parachute, Colo., and Maureen Sullivan, and her husband, Terence, Carolina Beach; a brother, J.A. Priest, and his wife, Joy, Ashland, Miss; a sister, Iva Beckett, and her husband, Delbert, Mooro Bay, Calif; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home.
