Obituary | Oct 2, 2012 | OBITUARY: Bakersfield: Lillian "Lila" Dufresne Luman, 69, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at home with her loving children comforting her. Born in Bakersfield, March 8, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Aimee and Beatrice (Prive) Dufresne. Lil attended school in Bakersfield and was a 1961 graduate from Brigham Academy where she was a senior honor student, a member of the girl's basketball team and was a cheerleader. She then furthered her education by taking classes at Community College of Vermont. Lil was an avid reader who enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, following her favorite sports teams, yard saling with her sisters and visiting the casinos. She leaves her six children. Philip Bruley and his wife, Beth of Greenburg, PA, Valerie Kimball and her life partner, Barbara Gernon of Gainsville, VA, Marie Isom and her husband, Scott of Aurora, CO, Samantha Ovitt and her husband, Blaine of Bakersfield, VT, Jeffrey Bruley of St. Albans, VT, and Jessica Tatro and her partner, Keith Rondeau of Berkshire, VT, her siblings, Lucille Burns of Madrid, NY, Pauline Lawyer and her husband, Donald of Bakersfield, VT, Jeannette Messinger of Pepperell, MA, Georgette Hale and her husband, Richard of East Fairfield, VT, Andrew Dufresne of Bemus Point, NY, Anita Longley and her husband, Robert of Vergennes and Suzanne Stone and her husband, Harold of Bakersfield, VT, 13 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and one great grandchild expected on Lila's birthday, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Lil is predeceased by her husband, Herman "Tinker" Luman on August 27, 2004 and by two brothers, Roger and Phillip Dufresne. In honoring her wishes, a celebration of her life will be held Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Bakersfield Historical Society in Bakersfield, VT. Lil was an ardent supporter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Memorial contributions may be made to DAV, in care of Col. Donald Cook, Chapter 5, P.O.
