She was born Sept. 14, 1915, in Bouquet, N.Y., the daughter of Amasy and Ada (Denett) Crowningshield, and received her early education locally.

On Jan. 14, 1933, she married William Tenzer, who died in 1989.

Mrs. Tenzer was a housewife, a homemaker and also worked the family farm with her husband.

In later years, she did housekeeping work for several area families.

In May 2005, she was honored with a certificate from Gov. James Douglas, as the last surviving Vermont widow of a World War I veteran.

She enjoyed her flower gardens, quilting, crocheting and puzzles.

She was predeceased by a brother, Harold Crowningshield, and 10 sisters.

The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, in Mountain View Cemetery in Orwell.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mallory Funeral Home in Fair Haven.
