| Obituary | Feb 16, 2022 | OBITUARY: Lexington, KY — Eva Frances Treganza Coutermarsh, 97, passed away January 25th 2022, at her home. Eva was born June 19, 1924, in Logan County Colorado the daughter of James Robert and Ida M. Treganza. She married Walter S. Coutermarsh, Jr. August 1944. They raised their family, Stephan and Susan, in Hanover Center, N.H. Eva worked as a secretary and shop manager at the Dartmouth College Museum until retirement. Moving in 1987, they lived in several locations, finally moving in 2011 to an addition built for them by Susan and Mike Ginter, at their home in Lexington, KY. Being a preacher's kid shaped Eva's formative years resulting in a lifetime of frugality. She enjoyed a few guilty pleasures, such as wagering on horse racing and enjoying a glass of champagne on any special occasion. She never met a dog she didn't like, but the same can't be said for all people. Growing up with three sisters, Eva was extremely competitive and absolutely hated losing - whether money or a contest of minds. She was exceedingly fond of swimming, especially when the water was cold, and was known to take a dip before breakfast when at her favorite place, Weirs Beach N.H. Eva was predeceased by her adoring husband who she lovingly cared for over five years, before he succumbed to Alzheimer's in January 2012. She was also preceded by her sisters, Edith Bickford, Eunice Treganza, and Fae Felch. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Mike Ginter, and by her son and daughter-in-law Stephan and Marit Coutermarsh (of Norway), and by her sisters-in-law in Enfield, N.H, and also by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
