He was a foreman for Cooley-Wright Manufacturing Company in Waterbury for 29 years. He also worked five years at Smith, Whitcomb & Cook (foundry) in Barre. In 1964 he was graduated from the Vermont School of Barbers and until 1967 was co-owner of the Capital Barber Shop in Montpelier, retiring due to ill health.
