Obituary | OBITUARY: William Walter Husband passed away September 26, 2012 at his home in Windsor, VT surrounded by his family. He was born January 17, 1932 in East Highgate, VT the son of George A. and Geraldine (Longe) Husband. He received his schooling in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1950. He was a veteran US Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge he joined the US Army Reserves, and retired as Sergeant First Class in 1992 after proudly serving for twenty years. He married Mary Kusian in Hanover, CT on August 27, 1960. They resided in Hartford and West Hartford, CT for several years. He was employed as a police officer in West Hartford before moving to Windsor in 1973. He was briefly employed at the former Vermont Sate Prison in Windsor. He most recently had been employed as a police and security officer at the Veterans Hospital in White River Jct. for twenty four years until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Windsor American Legion Post #25 and a lifetime member of the Claremont VFW. He was also a member of the Green Mountain Civil War Round Table in White River Jct. and of the 43rd Infantry Division of Veterans. He greatly enjoyed learning about history, especially war related. He was an avid New York Yankees fan, and enjoyed attending Windsor High School athletic events, especially football, baseball and basketball. Bill was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing and walking his dog. He was very fond of spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, George Husband, Jr., and two sisters, Betty Ann Husband and Gloria M. Tansey. Survivors include his wife, Mary Husband of Windsor, two sons, Bryan W. Husband and his wife, Coralee of Windsor, VT and Mark E. Husband of Cumberland, RI, one daughter, Karen L. Hamblin and her husband, Michael of Hartland, VT, four brothers, Robert Husband of Windsor, Roland Husband of Windsor, Roger Husband of Stephen City, VA and Laurel Husband of Marysville, OH, one aunt, Helen Renault of Boynton, FL, eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
