She was a native of Nansemond County and the widow of John Wesley Speight. She a member of Parkers United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Johnny Wesley Speight; and three sisters, Mrs. Virgie Winslow, Mrs. Vera Jones Ward and Miss Mary Helen Jones, all of Suffolk; brother, Paul T. Jones of Hampton; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 2, 1980 at 11 a.m. in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by Dr. R. E. Brittle and Rev. Allen R. Blakney. Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk.
