Obituary | Jan 7, 2003 | OBITUARY: PERKINSVILLE - Colleen W. Olney, 79, died Jan. 5, 2003, at Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 17, 1923, in Chester, the daughter of Irving and Ethel (Wheelock) Wheeler. She attended schools in Chester. She married Bernard Olney on May 7, 1943, in Sioux City, Iowa. Mrs. Olney was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Chester. She enjoyed raising flowers, feeding wild birds, bowling and vacations in Maine. Survivors include five daughters, Teresa Miller of Niskayuna, N.Y., Bonnie Roys and Sally Knight, both of Springfield, Susan Miles of North Springfield and Nancy Chambers of Baltimore; two sons, Ronal Olney of Sutton, N.H., and Stephen Olney of Perkinsville; two sisters, Norma Bratton of Chester and Nylene Oliver of Ocala, Fla; a brother, Graydon Wheeler of Belchertown, Mass; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard Olney in 1980; and a brother, Allan Wheelock. The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Chester with the Rev. Thomas Charlton, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery in North Springfield. Friends may call Wednesday morning at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 187, Chester, 05143.
