Obituary | May 18, 2011 | OBITUARY: Langdon E. Bedell 1921-2011 POWNAL, VT Langdon E. "Lanny" Bedell, 90, of 21 Fern St. Pownal, Vt., died May 15, 2011 at Sweetbrook Care Center, Williamstown. He was born in Lowell, Vt., on April 13, 1921 a son of the late Henry Bedell and Florence (Neddo) Bedell. He attended schools in Vermont and Lee, graduating from Lee High School. He was a decorated veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Navy. He was employed in the Transformer Division of General Electric Company in Pittsfield for many years. He was also employed as a Mutual Teller at Green Mountain Race Track. He was an active member and instructor of the Color Guard of the American Legion Post #90 in Pownal, Vt. He was also a member of the VFW in North Adams. He was an active golfer, skier, fisherman and hunter. He is survived by his wife, the former Geraldine F. "Geri" DeRose whom he married on October 5, 2002. Two sons, Langdon Bedell Jr. of Eugene, Ore., and Terrance Bedell and his wife Carol of Pleasanton, Calif. One daughter, Susan McCauley and her husband Dennis of Maryland. Five granddaughters, Sharon, Jennifer, Dominica, Nichole and Cara and five great grandchildren. Three stepsons, Larry DeRose and his wife Michelle of North Adams, Michael DeRose and his wife Becky of Georgia and Joseph DeRose and his wife Susan of Georgia. Six step grandchildren, Chad, Alicia, Ryan, Shane, Amber and Nicholas, who is also his Godson. He was predeceased by a brother: Harry Bedell FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside Services with military honors will take place Tuesday May 24, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Vermont Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Randolph, Vt.
