Obituary | Sep 7, 2007 | OBITUARY: LUDLOW - Frederick Paul Jelley, 81, died peacefully at Springfield Hospital, Wednesday night, September 5, 2007. Fred was born July 14, 1926, the son of Alfred and Alta Jelley, youngest of 11 children. He was a World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Eldine Jelley; three daughters, Lynda A. Jelley of Panama City, Fla., and her husband Zeke Benjamin, Penney Jelley Johnson of Ludlow, Vt., and Kathleen Doyle of Ludlow, Vt., and her husband Rick Doyle; a stepson, Michael Johnson of Lebanon, N.H., and a stepdaughter, Debra Johnson of North Springfield, Vt. He had seven grandchildren, Kasey, Kori, Jordan, Mindy, McKenzie, Jessie and Korey; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Cohen. Frederick was also survived by three brothers, one sister and many nieces and nephews. He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards and dabbled in watercolors. Fred was loved by many and truly enjoyed his time with family and friends. He was well known around town as "Half Cup Fred." Calling hours will be held at the St. James Methodist Church in Proctorsville, Vt., on Saturday, September 8, 2007, between 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Methodist Church, Proctorsville, Vt. Service to be officiated by Pastor Ken White. A reception will immediately follow the funeral service.
