Obituary | Apr 26, 2004 | OBITUARY: SWANTON -- Joseph Arthur Hoague, 77, died Sunday, April 18, 2004, at the Brownway Residence in Enosburg Falls. Born in Swanton, July 6, 1926, he was the son of the late Joseph and Almira (Pelkey) Hoague. He attended Swanton Schools and was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged on June 1, 1947. He has been a member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 of St. Albans and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 778 of Swanton. He is survived by a son, Peter Hoague of Florida; and a sister, Rosanna Wescott of Grand Isle; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his six brothers, George, Alfred, Napoleon, Fred, Arthur, and Nelson and four sisters, Edna Williams, Helen Van Guilder, Marion Corwell and Elizabeth Phillips. Graveside Services and interment with full military honors will take place Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at 2 p.m. at the Hoague family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Father Donald Morris Rector of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton.
