Obituary | May 17, 2018 | OBITUARY: Winooski - Alice M. (Renault) Demag, a Winooski resident for almost 78 years passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 after a brief illness at Our Lady of Providence in Winooski. Her loving family was by her side throughout her entire illness. Mom (Memere) was born on July 24, 1921 in Barton, Vermont to Simeon and Alma (Valley) Renault. She was the oldest of seven children. On September 25, 1939, she married Bernard J. Demag, the love of her life. Together they raised five children in their little home in Winooski where their doors were always open to family and their many friends. She worked for a short time as a Licensed Nursing Assistant at Birchwood Nursing Home; a job that came naturally to her as she spent her life caring for her family and many friends. She was at her best when she was helping others; something she continued even as a resident at Our Lady of Providence. Mom is survived by three of her children, Gloria and Leonel Vezina of Williston, David and Lydia Demag of Milton and Englewood, Florida, and MaryAnn and James LeClair of Colchester, seventeen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, and six great, great grandchildren, her sister Julia St. John of Connecticut along with many nieces and nephews. She leaves four very special great grandchildren; Sebastian Parent, Stella Parent, Cassidy Thompson and Matthew Gonyea. These little ones always put a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eyes. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard in 1978, her sons, Bernard, Jr., and Albert in 2016, daughter-in-law, Donna Demag in 2008, grandson, David Demag in 2003 and granddaughter, Irene Demag in 1966. The family would like to thank Dr. Anne Goering for her kind and compassionate care and the amazing nurses, sisters and staff at Our Lady of Providence. Her time there was a blessing and she was so happy and well cared for. A special thank you to the Hospice nurses. Their kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 19th at 10:00 am at St. Stephen's Church on Barlow Street in Winooski. Visiting hours will be at LaVigne Funeral Home 132 Main Street in Winooski from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm on May 18th.
