ObituaryNov 26, 2024  OBITUARY: BAKERSFIELD - Gary "Sam" Alan Geddes, a.k.a "The Goose", passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the age of 82, at the St. Albans Health & Rehab Center.

Sam was born in St. Albans on December 21, 1941 to the late Neil & Clara (Pelkey) Geddes.

Upon graduating from Brigham Academy High School, Sam embarked on a fulfilling journey of farming, a profession that he dedicated his life to. Alongside his devoted wife, Gloria, whom he married on April 10, 1965, Sam ran the family farm with unwavering passion and dedication. Following their retirement, Sam took on new adventures at the cheese plant and Bakersfield Country Club.

Sam's love for life extended beyond his work, as he found joy in hunting, golfing, bowling, and dancing with dear friends Lane and Becky. An avid sports fan, he loved to watch the Red Sox, Celtics, or any team his grandchildren played on. Sam's interests also included maple sugaring, cards at the Marshia deer camp, and savoring Gloria's home-cooked meals, a testament to their enduring love and partnership.

Sam is survived by his wife, Gloria (O'Connell) Geddes; their children, Gary Geddes and his wife Cherie, Timothy Geddes and wife April, and Sara Bessette; grandchildren, Allison Geddes and her significant other Nathan, Cameron Geddes and his significant other Ally, Jenna Bessette and her significant other Cody, Colby Geddes and his significant other Lizzy, and Jaiden Bessette and her significant other Colbey; step-grandchildren, Katie Jacques, Tyler Jacques, and Emily Nolan and her husband RJ; great grandchildren, Grayson and Norah; sister, Carol Poston; siblings-in-law, Philip O'Connell and his wife Heidrun, David O'Connell, Pam O'Connell, and Martha O'Connell; and several nieces & nephews. Sam was predeceased by his parents, Neil & Clara (Pelkey) Geddes; mother and father-in-law, Fay & Grace O'Connell; brother, Roger Geddes and his wife Ruby; and siblings-in-law, James Poston, Gary O'Connell, Donna Bower and her husband Don, Tommy O'Connell, Richard O'Connell, and Connie O'Connell.

Friends & family are invited to Sam's Life celebration to include visitation on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 4-7:00 PM at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickenson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home. Interment will follow in Egypt Cemetery in East Fairfield.
