ObituarySep 29, 2003  OBITUARY: ST. ALBANS / RICHFORD - Beatrice W. Bean, LPN, age 89, passed away Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at the Holiday House Nursing Home in St. Albans where she had been a resident since 1994.

she was born June 1, 1914, in Wilbraham, Mass., the daughter of the late William and Maybelle (Eldridge) Whitman.

Although Bea was a very private person, she did participate in the Lyceum Program as well as most of the activities at Holiday House, she especially enjoyed painting with Norm Bushey. She also loved cats, babies, collecting buttons, chocolate, turkey drumsticks, root beer and anything purple. Her greatest love was reading.

She was a long time member of the Green Mountain Button Club, Massachusetts Button Society, and the National Button Club.

She leaves behind a very special friend and roommate, Dorothy Ladd; her closest friends, Ernie and Sherry Farrar, and Delia Martin, all of St. Albans. A special thank you to her step-children, David Bean of Georgia, and James Bean of Lindsborg, Ky. for their generosity and understanding. And a sincere thank you to the staff at Holiday House and Dr. Teig Marco for the many years of wonderful care given to Bea. Bea's smile and twinkling eyes caught the hearts of the staff, residents and their families. She will be greatly missed.

She was predeceased by her husband, Earle Bean in 1992.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the Bean family lot at the Hill West Cemetery in Montgomery Center with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at 2 p.m. at the Holiday House Nursing Home, 264 Sheldon Road, St. Albans.
