| Obituary | Dec 27, 1945 | OBITUARY: Mrs. Clara Carmen, a longtime resident of Wapello and Monroe counties died at the home of her son R.E. Carmen near Chillicothe Friday afternoon, December 21st. She was the daughter of Alexander and Cornelia Sackett and was born April 10, 1859 in Monroe County. Her husband, T.C. Carmen preceded her in death, June 8, 1906 and four children died in infancy. Surviving are two sons. H.C. Carmen of Chicago and R.C. Carmen, two daughters, Mrs. Herman Lander of Chillicothe and Mrs. J.M. Ackers of near Eddyville, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from Columbia church with burial in Columbia Cemetery.
