ObituaryApr 3, 2018  OBITUARY: BETTY JANE SORENSEN. Betty Jane "Jane" Sorensen was born December 22, 1933 to Jack(Lynwood) and Evelyn Garrow in Ventura, California. She passed peacefully on March 29, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2015 after nearly 64 years of marriage. She was a long time resident of Chico after her family relocated in 1948. She graduated from Chico Senior High in 1951 and married James Sorensen the following July 14th. They had four children: Jamey, Brad (wife: Janie), Laura and Mindy (husband: Rick Cole). She enjoyed being a grandmother to April (Husband: Tim Peterson), Sean (wife: Sarah), Megan (husband: Josh Strong), Aaron (wife: Connie), and Jessica. She also was a great-grandmother to three beautiful children: Olivia, Nathaniel, and Luca. She enjoyed cooking and constantly tried new recipes. She also loved to crochet, sew and knit. She was an active member of the Evangelical Free Church of Chico for over 60 years. She and her husband always volunteered for nursery duties as well as volunteering their talents for church ministry. Over the years they opened their home to numerous college students, sharing their love and a good meal. She spent many hours in prayer for those she held near and dear. Special thanks to Cleo Ramirez and her staff at Caring Heart Board and Care Home in Clovis, CA. In lieu of flowers, please send remembrances to Project 127, a Home Repair Ministry through the Evangelical Free Church of Chico, 1193 Filbert Ave., 95926. The Celebration of Life service will be held at the Evangelical Free Church of Chico at 11 a.m. on April 6. There will be a reception following the service.
