Born Sept. 14, 1918, in Pleasant Township near Ipava to Charlie and Mabel Cass Wickert, he married Violet L. Klinedinst on April 16, 1939, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Carroll Gene of Hanford, Calif., Willis Dean of Catlett, Va., Roy Devere of Naperville, Dennis Lynn of Springfield and Quentin Lavern of Kildeer; and one sister, Mrs. Leroy (Betty) Clemens of Astoria.

He also was preceded in death by one daughter, Glenna Mae Wickert; one grandson; and two brothers.

A carpenter for 50 years, he was a member of Carpenters Union Local 644 in Pekin and a former president of Macomb Local 1883.

He was a member of the Tri- County Travelers, Good Sam Chapter and a former member of the Camp Emmanuel Board.

He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
