Obituary | Jul 14, 2003 | OBITUARY: SHREWSBURY - William H. "Bill" Garrow Jr., 68, a former resident of Mount Holly, died July 13, 2003, at Rutland Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 14, 1934, in Mount Holly, the son of William and Etta (Harris) Garrow Sr. He married Cindy Burton on Nov. 18, 1977, in Mount Holly. Mr. Garrow worked for General Electric Co. in Rutland for more than 28 years, retiring in 1992. He was a seven - year member of the Vermont National Guard. He was a member of Cairo Temple, Mount Moriah Lodge 76 of Mount Holly, Cairo Shriners Patrol and Drum Corps and the Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife; his mother, Etta Dean of Cavendish; his stepmother, Evelyn Garrow of Mount Holly; two sons, William Garrow III of Mount Holly and Joseph Garrow of Shrewsbury; three daughters, Dawn Garrow of Cleveland, Ga., Wanda Trinci of Mount Holly and Cindy Tuomisto of Ludlow; four brothers, Edward Garrow of Shrewsbury, Roger Garrow, Robert Garrow and Russell Garrow, all of Mount Holly; five sisters, Betty Ann Harrison and Jean Glidden, both of Ludlow, Ruth Lawson of Escondido, Calif., Rebecca Wilson of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Rita Beardmore of Shrewsbury; several grandchildren; one great - grandson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father; his stepfather, Winfred Dean; and two brothers, Louis Garrow and Richard Garrow. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland. The Rev. Thomas Mattison, assistant pastor of Christ the King Church in Rutland, will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be offered at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, P.O. Box 787, Rutland, 05702, Rutland Regional Medical Center, Community Cancer Center, 160 Allen St., Rutland, 05701, or Shriners Hospital, in care of the Clifford Funeral Home, 2 Washington St., Rutland, 05701.
