ObituaryApr 24, 2007  OBITUARY: Mrs. Victoria Noella Clapper, age 84 years, died Saturday, April 21, 2007, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.
A native of Highgate, Mrs. Clapper has been resident at the Franklin Homestead and more recently the Franklin Carriage House over the past 14 years.
Born in Highgate on Dec. 23, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Margaret D. (Raymo) Machia. She attended Highgate schools and was married to Gordon Meader, who predeceased her in 1974. She later married Ralph Clapper who also predeceased her on Aug. 13, 1991.
Mrs. Clapper remained very active in her retirement years and was involved in several local senior citizen organizations. She enjoyed the outdoors, planting a garden growing vegetables and fishing, but her greatest love was cooking and feeding her family and friends.
She leaves three daughters, Bonnie Feathers, Susan Olender and husband, Stanley, and Sherry Van Coughnett, all of New York State; a step-son, Randall Clapper and wife, Barbara of Connecticut; two sisters, Peggy McGaughey of Connecticut and Doris Raymond of South Carolina; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Sandy Thomas, who resided in Vermont.
A Graveside Funeral Service and Interment will be held Thursday, April 26, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. from the Clapper family lot in the Sheldon Village Cemetery. Mr. Theodore Hemenway Sr. will officiate. All relatives and friends are invited to a time of fellowship following the service at the Felco Room of the Franklin Carriage House, 114 Homestead Drive, Franklin Village.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts in Mrs. Clapper’s memory be made to Franklin Rescue, in care of Pauline Gadbois, 3764 State Park Road, Enosburgh Falls, 05450.
