Obituary | Sep 21, 1977 | OBITUARY: MRS. SALLIE L. HOFLER, 85, the widow of Marmaduke Hofler and a Sunbury, NC native, died Tuesday at 10:15 a.m. in Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie. She was a member of Damascus Congregational Church. Survivors include two sons, Phillip Hofler of Gatesville and Cooper Hofler of Sunbury; two brothers, M.C. Lassiter of Sunbury and Burton Lassiter of Portsmouth; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The body was taken to Twiford Gates Chapel, Gatesville, for a funeral Thursday at 3 p.m. in Damascus Congregational Church by the Rev. Billy Robertson. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.
