Obituary | Feb 21, 1994 | OBITUARY: Elmer Byrum, 82, of the 1500 block of Elder Ave., a retired estimator, died Feb. 19, 1994, in Norfolk. Mr. Byrum was born in Suffolk. He had retired from NNSY after 30 years. He was the owner of Byrum Electric Company of Chesapeake. He was the oldest living member of Virginia Beach First Church of the Nazarene. He was a past member of the City of Chesapeake Electrical Board. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Velma J. Byrum; two daughters, Ada Adele Whitehead of Chesapeake and June B. Savage of Virginia Beach; two sons, E. Wayne Byrum of Canton, Mich., and Ron L. Byrum of Chesapeake; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Virginia Beach First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park.
