Obituary | Oct 1, 1909 | OBITUARY: Charles is the son of John Wilson and Jeanette Rountree. He was residing in Orange County, North Carolina and was by occupation a farmer prior to enlisting in Company D (Graham Rifles), 56th North Carolina Troops at the age of 24. He was appointed 2nd Lieutenant on May 17, 1862. He was reported present or accounted for through February 1864. He was wounded in the right leg and foot at Plymouth, North Carolina on April 18, 1864. He was captured at Five Forks, Virginia on April 1, 1865 and was confined at Old Capital Prison, Washington, D.C. on April 5, 1865. He was transferred to Johnson's Island yankee prison, Ohio on April 9, 1865 and was released on June 20, 1865. He had previously served as 2nd Lieutenant in the 45th and 46th North Carolina Militia.
