Bernie's family includes his mother, Maxine R. Saunders and husband ''Captain'' Wes Saunders; two sons, Christian Shaw and Bernard F. IV, their wives Kelly and Alice ''Ollie''; his three grandsons, Joshua, Benjamen and Riley; an adopted daughter, Stephenie Ann; his brothers, Robert E., Jeffrey S., Gregory L., and Tim D; a sister, Marie Elizabeth; and other family members and friends, too numerous to mention, but certainly not forgotten. He was predeceased by his father, Bernard F. Miller Jr., and all his grandparents. Bernie, 51, retired after 28 years of service with the County of Fairfax, Va.
