He also had a strong interest in genealogy and researched the Spivey family tree back to the 1500s in England. Another source of pride was bringing his high school graduating class together for yearly reunions. Mr. Spivey was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church and the Watery Swamp Hunt Club. On July 5, 1952, he was married to the former Helen Marie Wright. She passed away in 1967. He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Gloria Spivey Wurster of De Forest, Wis., Dr. Sheila Spivey Hume of Laurel, Md., Armecia Spivey Medlock and her husband, Dr. Eugene Medlock of Westlake Village, Calif; a son, Charlie Hofler "Chuck'' Spivey Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Eldersburg, Md; eight grandchildren, Ian Medlock and Taylor Medlock of Westlake Village, Calif., Jacob Spivey, Erika Spivey, Carlin Spivey, Robin Spivey of Eldersburg, Tami Griffin and her husband, Matthew, of Wauwatosa, Wis., Amy Halloran and her husband, Robert, of West Allis, Wis; two great-grandsons, Timothy Griffin and Ryan Halloran; and a host of other family and friends.
