Obituary | Jan 10, 2011 | OBITUARY: Elizabeth Hofler Elmore, of 200 Queen Anne Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011 in the Skilled Nursing Unit of Chowan Hospital. Mrs. Elmore was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Willie H. and Lucy Byrum Hofler. A graduate of Sunbury High School, she had served as the vice-president of Edenton Furniture Company, Inc., and was a member of Edenton Baptist Church and its Sunshine Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Elmer Perry, Jr., a son, Johnny Vaughan Perry, a sister, Nell Hofler, a son-in-law, Dodd "Sonny" Floyd, and a grandson, Alan Dean Perry. Surviving are her husband, Alton G. Elmore; children, Jeanette Perry Floyd of Hobbsville, Carole Perry Bass and husband, Ronnie, of Edenton, Kimberly Elmore Cooper and husband, Gary, of Elizabeth City; and Kel Elmore and wife, Kathleen, of Edenton; a sister, Marie Hofler of Sunbury; two brothers, Will Hofler of Kill Devil Hills and Willard Hofler of Elizabeth City; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. in Edenton Baptist Church by the Rev. David Brooks and Dr. Kenneth Word. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends joined the family Sunday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.
