In 1880, Conant, Houghton and Company built a fruit evaporator, and cider and vinegar mill north of the intersection of Great Road (2A) and King Street in Littleton, Mass. To maintain year-round employment, the firm also began the manufacture of elastic webbing and established a factory adjacent to the cider mill in 1882.3
