Obituary | Oct 31, 2003 | OBITUARY: HARWICH - Lawrence W. "Larry" Alexander Sr., 84, died Wednesday at Liberty Commons Nursing and Care Center, Chatham, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Allyn "June" Alexander for 58 years. Mr. Alexander was born in Brunswick, Maine, and graduated from Brunswick High School. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in many of the Italian campaigns. After the war, he lived in Lowell, where he owned and operated his own ice company. He also worked for Raytheon Corp. for many years, retiring to Harwich in 1981. An avid golfer, he was a former member of Cranberry Valley Golf Course, where he had two holes-in-one. He scored a third at a tournament in Easton, while in the couples league of Senior Golf Association of Cape Cod, and for this he won a new car for a year in 1983. A longtime member of William North Lodge of Masons in Lowell, he was awarded a 50-year pin for his years of service. Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Lawrence W. Alexander Jr. of Amherst, N.H., and Randy L. Alexander of Dracut; and five grandchildren. A memorial celebration of his life is at 11 A.M. tomorrow at Coutinho-Boisse Funeral Home, 678 Main St., Harwich.
