Obituary | Mar 5, 1960 | OBITUARY: George M. Shiflett, 49, of 911 Elliott Ave., died this morning at University Hospital after an extended illness. He was born Sept. 24, 1910, in Albemarle County, son of Mrs. Liza R. Shiflett of Charlottesville and the late Joseph Z. Shiflett. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances Garrison Shiflett; a son, Staff Sgt. George M. Shiflett, Jr., stationed with the Army in Germany; two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Proffitt and Mrs. Jack Snead both of Charlottesville; three brothers, Elmer Shiflett and Joseph D. Shiflett, both of Charlottesville and Alvin Shiflett of Baltimore, Md; six sisters, Mrs. Robert Thacker of Alexandria, Mrs. James Wilson and Mrs. Jack Lamb, both of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Faye Knight, Mrs. Floyd Batten, and Mrs. Carrie Collier, all of Charlottesville; and five grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are in complete.
